Custom Crunch User Guide

" Introduction "
The general structure of a Crunch is six lines of text; title, who, what, where, when, and why.

But don't panic. The only slightly tricky bit is the last line.

" 1. Title "
The name of your crunch enclosed in double quotation marks. eg. "My Crunch"

Mainly used to temporarily save / load your Crunch (as a cookie).

" 2. Who "
Crunches have two lists of teams; the result "teams" and their "opponents". Separated by '-vs-'.

eg. Haw Kan Mag -vs- Pow Sai Sun

All games between the "teams" and "opponents" are looked at - but only results for the "teams" are collected.

Shortcuts; eg. All, NSW, IS (Interstate), OS (overseas).

" 3. What "
Results are returned in the format of a traditional football ladder.

You can choose what columns and in what order; eg. T  P  W  L  D  PF  PA  %  PP

'T' = Teams.
'P' = Games Played.
'W' = Win, 'L' = Losses, 'D' = Draws.
'PF', 'PA' = Points for and against.
'%' = Percentage (for/against).
'PP' = Premiership Points.

'C' = Crowd.
'Y' = Year.
'VN' = Venue.

'W%' = Win percentage; wins / played.
'WR' = Win ratio; (wins + 0.5 x draws) / played.

'TF', 'OF' = Average Team and Opponent Ladder Finish (end of Season).
'TR', 'OR' = Average Team and Opponent Ladder Rung.
'TB', 'OB' = Team and Opponent Breaks (days between games).

'DS', 'GS', 'YS' = Days, Games, or Years Since.

With some parameters, eg. Crowds, you can specify the type of result;
- 'C' will give you the average crowd (default)
- 'C+' is the maximum crowd
- 'C-' is the minimum crowd
- 'C=' is the sum total of the crowds.

And finally you can specify a column to show a subtotal of the data. Using any of the parameters detailed in the "Why" section.
eg. <20k/W = number of wins when the crowd is below 20k.
eg. 6d/WR = win ratio when the team is on a 6 day break.
eg. 1-8th/PF = average points for when playing a side in the top 8.

" 4. Where "
A list of venues using the first three letters of the venue's name.

You can also use shortcuts; eg. All (default), TAS, VIC, IS (interstate), OS (overseas)

'ACT'; Manuka

'NSW'; Blacktown Oval, SCG, Stadium Australia, Sydney Showgrounds

''NT'; Mararra Oval (Darwin), Traeger Park (Aice Springs)

'QLD'; Carrara (Gold Coast), Cazalys Stadium (Cairns), The Gabba, Riverside Oval (Townsville)

'SA'; Adelaide Oval, Football Park, MtBarker, Norwood Oval

'TAS'; Bellerive Oval (Hobart), York Park (Launceston)

'VIC'; Docklands, Eureka Stadium (Ballarat), Kardinia Park (Geelong), MCG, Princes Park

'WA'; Perth Stadium, Subiaco, The WACA

'OS'; Jiangth Stadium (China), Wellington (NZ)

" 5. When "
By Season; eg. 2024, 2015-2024, >2010

By Round; eg. R1, >R5, R30-31
Note that finals are found by using R >= 30;
QF = R30, EF = R31, SF = R32, PF = R33, GF = R34 (replays = R35)

By Time; eg. 16:30, <18:30, 15:00-18:30

By Day; eg. Fri, Sat, Sun.

By Month; eg. Apr, May, Jun.

" 6. Why "
It looks confusing! But don't panic.

eg. 10E/D-  Q1234  >=50k  -6,6m3  1-8th  -vs-  6d

The first part specifies how to collect games for the Crunch.

The '10' is the number of games to collect for each 'grouping'. You can change this number to anything you want.

The 'E' is the grouping. In this case it's 10 games for 'E'ach team (vs any opponent).

The Grouping Options;
'All' = All games (you don't need a number).
'T' = Total games. Any team vs Any opponent.
'E' = Each team vs Any opponent.
'V' = Each team vs Each Opponent.
'U' = Utopia. Matched number of home and away games for each vs combination.

The 'D' after the slash is for sorting the crunch by 'D'ates. You can also sort by 'C'rowds and 'M'argins.

And the '-' is the direction of the sort. In this case by dates backwards. If you want to sort forwards you can use '+'.

The next bit is for general why parameters (for both sides).

The Q1234 is what quarters to include in the scores. If you only wanted the second quarters you would use Q2. If you wanted first halves you could use Q12. Or if you wanted to specifically exclude third quarters from your crunch you could use Q124

The rest are search parameters. Either general / teams or for opponents (after '-vs').

Crowd. eg. 25k, <50k, 50-90k.

Ladder finish; eg. 4th, <10th, 1-8th.

Days break; eg. 7d, <10d, 7-14d.

Margins; eg. -6,6m3 is for margins. In this case between -6 and +6 points at three quarter time.

Results; eg. W, L, D.

Home or Away; H, A.

Home State or Interstate; HS, IS, HHS, AHS, HIS, AIS.

Previous week (enclosed in brackets); eg. (Haw) (@SCG)
